Kayla and Adrienne’s Turkey Mountain Wedding in Tulsa, Oklahoma
These gorgeous photos of Kayla and Adrienne below were a part of a Turkey Mountain wedding editorial featuring the recently-married couple, Mary Fencl Events, Ever Something, and Jordan Taylor Photography. We just adore this shoot featuring talented wedding vendors in Oklahoma.
How long have you known each other? How did you meet?:
Adrienne: We’ve known each other a little over two years now. We met through Kayla’s best friend that I used to work with at Hideaway Pizza!
When did each of you know you wanted to get married? When did you fall for each other?:
Adrienne: I knew I wanted to marry her when we first met. I started falling for her in the two weeks leading up to the meeting, just from talking. There was something so special and different about her. She says she was falling for me by our first date because she laid one on me!!
Kayla: I knew I wanted to marry her when we took our first trip to Colorado!
Tell us about your engagement story.:
Adrienne: I had been planning to propose, but didn’t know when or how quite yet. Then, Kayla invited me on her and her best friend’s trip to CA. I did it when we stopped through to look at the Grand Canyon. We found a good spot right along the edge and I made a bouquet out of some flowers I thought were cool (but they could’ve even been weeds), turned to her, and pulled out this ring I made of twine and asked her to marry me. To be honest I think I blacked out from nerves but it was still an amazing time.
Did you write your own vows or exchange traditional vows? If you wrote your own, what was each of your favorite line(s) from the vows?:
We wrote our own, pretty much nothing was traditional about how we did everything.
Adrienne: I don’t have a favorite line really, the entirety of her vows to me made me sob so it’s hard to pick out one thing. I was just so in shock this perfect person was so down with me to commit our lives to each other! I’m so lucky.
Tell us about the top 1-3 moments of your wedding day.:
#1 - We got married in our backyard at about 7am. It was beautiful. Getting ready so early & just kind of mentally preparing was very awakening at 6am.
#2 - Obviously listening to Kayla’s vows to me (Adrienne).
#3 - The celebration afterwards with our family and close friends. Throughout the entire day, there were moments just looking at Kayla in her dress, it almost didn’t feel real it was a dream!
What do you think you'll remember the most from your wedding 50 years from now?:
Adrienne: I will remember that it was the greatest accomplishment of mine (until we have kids). More than that, I don’t think I could forget a second of it!!
What details in your wedding did you incorporate that were deeply meaningful to the two of you? Just love!
What were each of your thoughts when you met for the first time?
Adrienne: I thought she was smaller than I expected but , she was so damn cute I couldn’t take my eyes off her!
How did you feel when you saw your spouse for the first time on your wedding day:
In a trance of love.
