Our top Four Sustainable Travel Products

four Sustainable Travel Products you need for traveling

The following sustainable travel alternatives to take with you on your vacation probably won’t save the world, but they also won’t make you feel like you’re a part of the problem. And if that’s not enough, they’ll save you money and space for your next trip!

Reusable cotton rounds

First on my list of favorite sustainable travel items are reusable cotton rounds. Say no to those drugstore cotton rounds that are rough on your skin and useless after the first use. They are machine washable, but for traveling purposes, wash with warm water and soap and leave to dry overnight.

These are a fairly new find of mine. I mean, have you ever seen cotton rounds so colorful?! (It’s safe to say I’m excited.) Grab your very own set here or here!

Reusable swab

Next is a reusable swab. And before you gross-out, let’s think practically. Packing numerous Q-tips can overwhelm your beauty bag. They’re also rough on the ears and do you really want to be the person still using single-use cotton products? Reusable swabs are completely sanitary and silicone-based (aka gentler on the ears). Wash after use with warm water and soap and you’re good to go! They also come in super chic carrying cases. Grab your eco-friendly swab set here or here

Both a space saver and sustainable, shampoo and conditioner bars are game-changers. The two listed target two essential qualities you want in your shampoo and conditioner: scalp care and moisture.

Sustainable Hair Care methods

The Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo Bar can be found with this link. And you don’t even have to ask, the bar does NOT smell like ACV (you’re welcome). For my friends with curly or wavy hair who are hesitant to give into this form of sustainable hair care, I have something especially for you! This Lavender and Tea Tree shampoo bar is ideal for curly and full-bodied hair textures.

The Cocoa Butter and Seaweed Extract conditioner bar can be found here. If you’re going to go with this option of sustainable hair care (which I highly recommend), I advise getting a traveling soap box to store your bars.

Another alternative are toothpaste tabs. There are a number to choose from, so I encourage you to do your own digging if you have the time. But, of course, I’ve done some for you already and picked my favorite.

Hello: Toothpaste Tablets

Hello: Toothpaste Tablets

These Hello Toothpaste Tabs are a wonderfully minty alternative. You can just toss them in your beauty bag and you’re all set! And once you’ve chewed your way to a gleaming smile remember to save the container because they’re reusable! Also, if you need one more incentive, these tabs are fluoride-free!

On the topic of oral-care, don’t forget your mouthwash! Having to rush to grab travel-size mouthwash is a hassle (not to mention where that plastic container will go once you’re done). That’s why I’d like to introduce you to mouthwash tablets (if you’re not already familiar)! This mouthwash is alcohol-free and with it comes a stylish durable glass-cup to plop your tab in and get to rinsing. Find them here on by Humankind’s webpage.
