An Amalfi Coast Elopement and Dinner Party
An Amalfi Coast Elopement and Dinner Party Among Friends
At B.E Publishing, we are hard-pressed to feel moved by a styled shoot, but this was one of those exceptions. The impeccably photographed landscape, architecture, details, and people ignited inspiration. The photographer, equally talented in writing, describes the shoot best. He says :
This spring, a group of creatives and friends had the opportunity to travel to Italy together. Makers united in a passion to create a beautifully curated real life experience. This trip gave us a platform to create collaboratively, something we’d all dreamed of doing. We designed, styled and shot a love story, woven with the charm of the Amalfi Coast. This region of Italy has its own unique color story that inspired our palette- the pastel buildings that seamlessly met the muted blue sky; the green paint on our favorite window frame was repeated on shutters and doorways in the quiet town; the mesmerizing color of the Mediterranean Sea; the soft sunset glow wrapped around everything and everyone. You felt the color story here. It was a joy to have the opportunity to create a work here that would complement this scene without taking away its essence. We focused on keeping each element classic and simple yet elegant, like using lemons instead of bold floral pieces for the décor and choosing a more subtle invitation suite that would be striking in this environment. Other details, like the vintage earrings our bride is wearing, were found locally, an homage to Italy; the groom’s ring we brought from a local jeweler at home, a tribute to where we came from.
Although these shots are styled, they’re a product of genuine love – for one another, for the Amalfi Coast, for the elegant lighting and the deserted beach, for the balcony where we ate gorgeous food, drank wine, and planned our days while marveling at the scene before us.
Expanding on Clancey’s description, one can’t help but marvel at the color story; the bride and groom’s eyes, soles of the bride’s shoes, vintage earrings, and muted blue embellishments on the gown all mimic the hues of the ocean and the architectural trim work. In contrast, the black accents on the groom’s tux and the bright yellow lemon garland provide just enough punctuation in the palette.
Traveling to create just for the sake of creating, and not under pressure, is a dream for most. Traveling to the Amalfi Coast with talented creatives who are friends and part of the shoot? That equals a recipe for a stunning result.
Travelling to Santa Fe, you will see the city is filled with historic adobe houses, amazing shopping, beautiful art, stunning churches and the most delicious southwestern food.
