These images are a collection of photographs taken on my medium format film camera during a recent trip to Italy. I chose to land in Rome and spend a couple of days there before taking a train to Florence where I rented a car and then drove throughout the countryside of Tuscany over the course of several days.

Rome was absolutely fascinating. I stayed in a tiny Airbnb apartment near Piazza Navona and walked the city with my camera in hand. I was told prior to my visit that Rome would feel like wandering the halls of an enormous living and breathing museum and I found this to be incredibly true. There was an overwhelming abundance of art and history anywhere I cared to look, which for me preserved the authenticity of Rome despite it being a significant tourist destination.

I departed Rome from Termini station and headed to Florence where I rented a car so that I could drive to my next Airbnb accommodations in Cusignano but decided first to explore the city for a few hours. Florence was spectacular and so alive. I took my time wandering the city, liaising with the Arno and when I grew hungry dined at Ristorante Parione where I enjoyed, without exaggeration, possibly the best meal of my entire life - I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone traveling to Florence.

From Florence I drove to my next Airbnb stopping in San Miniato just as the sun began to go down and snapped a few images there. When planning my trip to Italy I knew I wanted to truly experience what it would be like to reside in the hills of Tuscany and for this reason I chose to stay at an Airbnb in the tiny village of Cusignano. My host, Armando though barely fluent in English was one of the kindest, most hospitable people I have had the pleasure of meeting. For this I cannot wait to return and stay at his beautiful villa again. With Cusignano as my home base I spent the next several days driving to many of the regions small hilltop towns where I indulged in more gelato, pasta and pizza than I thought was possible for one to consume, all the while taking photographs along the way. The towns which I visited included San Gimignano, Volterra, Cortona and Sienna, to name a few.

My experience in Italy was one I will not soon forget. The hospitality, history, cuisine and breathtaking scenery have made it a beautiful place in every way one could be.
