Hatton House Home- stead

These images tell the story of an inspiring couple, Ben and Lindsey Thompson (a musician and artist) who recently made the move from the big city (Austin) to 20 acres of land out in the Texas hill country. They moved into an old rock homestead, called the Hatton House, dating back to the 1850s.

The original house was built in 1852, and it was restored in 1942. I took natural photographs of them and their space while they enjoyed an outdoor breakfast of homemade granola and local peaches out on their back porch while their baby boy Julien was enjoying his morning nap. This home has many special features to it: exposed rock walls, a lavender garden, a vegetable garden, a chicken coop, and a natural spring actually residing under the house itself. You can find a lily pad pond in front of the house where the spring water collects.

The property boast of so many beautiful features, but most of all, it immediately makes you want to roam. Like being a child again and feeling that wonder and curiosity of a new and inviting place. It's a place that will slow down any visitor and remind them of simple beauty, clarity and rest.

Ben and Lindsey are both artists and they value stillness and healthy awareness of work and life. They live with purpose to make slowness and boundaries a priority. Its families like these that inspires us and remind us that boundaries are important; family is important; home is important and curating your life is possible.
