Stunning Bridal Portraits in Charleston, South Carolina
The setting-sun glows through the Spanish moss gently swaying in the breeze. Sounds of the clucking fill the air as the chickens roam freely around the yard. Their freshly laid eggs are a delicate shade of blue. There is elegance in simplicity. With a location like River Oaks Charleston, styling by its graceful owner Marianne and all captured by Justina Bilodeau – there is a certain magic in these bridal portraits that can only be created by artists who truly pour love into the details.
The Concept from Justina, “The concept for this shoot was actually completely inspired by River Oaks Charleston. When I first saw images of this enchanting venue, I was struck by the nature-infused setting and European style of the landscaping and buildings. When I asked Marianne, River Oaks’ owner, to collaborate on styling, I told her that I wanted to really let the venue’s charm speak for itself in the images without bringing in too many extraneous details. She designed a soft pastel color palette and incorporated fresh foraged greenery in the florals and added sweet touches like fresh blue eggs laid by her chickens as place settings in the tablescape.
About the Gown from Justina, “This stunning gown, by designer Adrianna Papell, is technically an evening or formalwear piece, but the gorgeous beadwork combined with its graceful draping make it perfect for bridal. Especially for a bride who wants to wear a soft color instead of white or ivory. The subtle blush tone is so romantic and would complement a variety of wedding settings.”
Celebrating Your Environment from Justina, “We were able to produce a shoot that might inspire brides to think outside-the-box a bit in regard to their event styling - one doesn’t always need to base their event on a theme, per se, they can instead choose to showcase the beautiful details of their selected venue. Brides, you chose your venue for a specific reason, right? Now take that reason, whatever spoke to you about that venue, and build on it. Foraging for native blooms from the property to include in your floral design is a great way to do this or even base your color pallet and tablescape decor from the location’s environmental hues and textures.”
