Supplies:
- Floral scissors
- Floral wire
- Grapevine wreath
- Hot glue gun
- Kebab sticks (for plums)
- Honey (You can use another glue substance. We used honey bc it wouldn’t hurt the fruit)
- Paint brush
- Seeded eucalyptus
- Heather
- Red plums from grocery store
- Evergreens such as flat leaf cedar & pine (We foraged from surrounding woods!)
- Crabapple berries
- Small pinecones
Steps :
1. Select the size wreath you want. We chose a grapevine wreath because they are gorgeous when doing a partial coverage wreath.
2. Look for the seeded eucalyptus in your bunch that naturally arches with the direction you’re going to place your foliage. When you place the foliage, try not to make it too thick. Feel free to cut back a few branches if you need to.
3. Begin placing the first bit of eucalyptus at the bottom and work your way up. After your first layer of eucalyptus, add in a layer of your evergreens. Tie the pieces to the wreath with some floral wire. Continue layering up until you’ve reached coverage on half of your wreath.
4.Add in some pinecones in the areas that look “naked”. I like to hot glue these in because it a little easier than the wire.
5. When adding in the Heather to the other side of the wreath, start from the top and work your way down. You’re trying to keep it heavy on one side and a bit lighter with the other side. Adding in a little pine with the heather helps to keep it cohesive.
7. When adding in the plums, go ahead and place the sticks where you want them, and then apply the plums to sticks on the eucalyptus side. Cluster them towards the bottom and work up. Keeping it heavy at the bottom.
8. I applied honey to plums with a paintbrush. Just apply where the light is going to highlight the plums. Then we added golden Martha Stewart craft micro beads to these plums, just to give it more of a holiday feel.
10. Adding in some red crabapple berries really gives this wreath a holiday feel. Add them in sporadically. Finish it off by adding a simple gold wreath hanger.
