An Elegant and Minimal Morning at Home

Two days prior to their wedding, Isaac and Hannah wanted a moment to slow down. After 1137 days together, they wanted a moment to reflect and to enjoy the simple things within their relationship.

Their love story didn’t follow the typical pattern. It wasn’t one of those, “boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love” stories. Their love story was a bit more complicated than that. There were hard conversations, long distance dating, and extended periods of time spent apart. But sometimes, most times, those complicated stories are the best ones.

Which is why, two days before they pledged forever to one another, Isaac and Hannah took a day to themselves. They wanted to enjoy a slow day together, much like the days they’d spent together before. Their first date in Central Park. The time Isaac visited New York and they spent the week cozied up in Airbnb’s, hiding away from the world. Isaac’s 24-hour stops in New York just to see his future bride-to-be. These were all sweet moments within the relationship that they appreciated so much.

When you’re courtship consists of countless miles crossing the world by airplane and months spent apart, you know how important it is to take advantage of time spent in the same country. The same city. And, most importantly, the same room.

What makes this shoot so special is its simplicity. With fresh blooms and a few cozy elements brought in by Fitting Fetes Events, this lifestyle session was about celebrating those cozy, quiet moments between two people. Disagreements in a car. Unrequited love. Stolen hours in between flights to far off places. Isaac and Hannah have 1137 days worth of memories, and sometimes those memories can be captured with a single look.

For Hannah, it was important that their lifestyle session stays true to who they are as a couple. She said the following when asked why they chose to do an in-home session:

“Thematically it was something that was more relatable to us than marble staircases and grand landscapes. It was always important to us that we stay true to ourselves during the entirety of planning and executing our perfect wedding, and that included our lifestyle session. Spending time together and finding the beauty in seeming minutiae of the every day was always what we enjoyed, and this shoot seemed like a great opportunity to pull that feeling together. It helps that we're both incredible homebodies!”

Hannah and Isaac recognized that love isn’t always golden hour on a mountaintop or barefoot kisses on the beach. Love is coffee in the kitchen and breakfast in bed. Love is inventing your own language and sharing those fun stories such as naming your non-existent dog Chomp Gogi Kim-Kim.

Isaac and Hannah took a moment, two days before the most important day in their 1137, to look at each other and laugh. Their journey was long, and so were their flights. Their journey wasn’t always easy, but both of them would agree, it was worth it.
