Tell us about your family.
I really can’t think of anything more important than family. I’m the oldest of 7 siblings. I have 5 sisters and 1 brother. My husband is the youngest of 7 and has 6 sisters. I’m thinking the chances of us having a girl (someday) are pretty high! Also, I have the absolute best mom in the world!
What drives your art?
As a little girl I dreamed of owning my own business doing something I loved, but I never thought I’d have the courage to make it happen. My husband encourages me daily to say no to the voice of doubt, and make things happen. Having him as my biggest fan is the best feeling in the world! Realizing these dreams are all coming true drives me more and more each day.
What are you afraid of?
Failure. The fear of it haunts me from time to time. Sometimes I have to pinch myself because it just doesn’t seem possible that this is really my job. I love it so much that the thought of not doing it scares me.
What were you doing the last time you looked up at the clock and realized you had completely lost track of time?
Today, doing brush calligraphy. Once I start, it’s hard to get me to stop.
How is XO Events and Design unique?
XO Events and Design is relationship based, and constantly adding services and layers that fill a need for our clients. One service we offer are workshops out of Oklahoma City called XO Makeshops. We thrive on teaching brides and creatives about the design process, and we make sure each individual feels pampered along the way.
What do you want your clients to take away from having you as their planner?
I want each of my brides/clients to take away a new appreciation for the creative process and the little details that make each event unique.
What are you most interested in learning how to do right now?
I am always pushing myself to learn things that will set me apart in my business. In the last 8 months, I’ve taught myself calligraphy and brush lettering. Next on the list is learning Illustrator and Photoshop to take my writing to the next level.
What do clients need to know on their wedding day or during a shoot?
To relax. You hired a wedding planner for a reason. There’s no need to worry. Especially on one of the best days of your life!
