A Lowcountry Bride at Sunset

Charleston evokes a sense of old-world elegance unlike any other city making it a dream location and vibrant source of inspiration for a shoot. Add Alise Taggert and Kelly Sauer to create a beautiful afternoon and you have one dreamy collection of visuals. Here is what Alise had to share with us regarding this lovely bride at sunset:

Charleston is one my favourite places in the entire world, I've grown up vacationing there nearly every summer. I had wanted to collaborate on a shoot with Kelly Sauer for a while, who is lucky enough to call Charleston home. We spoke about this shoot for about a year before it happened and then it finally came together this past August. We had planned to have the shoot outdoors, but due to the extreme heat that regularly comes with southern summers we decided to create this shoot in Kelly's new studio space which worked really well. The exposed white washed brick walls and large windows that let in the most delicious golden light set a blank canvas for us to create in. The southern sky at sunset is such a beautiful site and where we drew our inspiration from. The golden yellow from Silk and Willow's flowing hand dyed silk, and the floral design incorporating sea grasses really tied the Low Country aesthetic together. Our model was actually a mother of four who never received wedding photographs from her own wedding years ago. She had such a fun time dressing up and modelling the beautiful gowns and being a bride again for one day. We hope this inspires brides to take notice of the natural beauty that surrounds them wherever they live and draw inspiration from that. So often we're searching for the next best thing and following trends, but sometimes the simplest things are the sweetest and the happiest bride is the prettiest bride.
