Natural Alabama Wedding

We love seeing couples infuse their personalities into their weddings, making them their own. Kathleen Bernal shared with us a recent Alabama wedding of Brandon and Geneva who did just that. Read more from their wedding planner Kathleen below.

Brandon and Geneva are both Mormon and had a traditional Mormon ceremony in Utah, so their Utah family could join them and celebrate the occasion. Then, in May, they had another, more traditional, ceremony in Alabama so that their Alabama friends and family could rejoice with them, as well. These photos are from the Alabama wedding and reception.

Brandon and Geneva are both avid nature lovers, that enjoy rock climbing, nature hikes, and, basically anything to do with adventure. They are also both dancers, with Geneva's concentration in folk dancing and West-Coast Swing, and Brandon's concentration in Ballroom and West-Coast Swing. They enjoy dessert before dinner and family time, and their wedding was a true reflection of their personalities, both individually and as a couple!

The ceremony was a very special occasion, with many personal touches. Brandon walked his parents down the aisle and Geneva was escorted to the altar by both of her parents. The ceremony was officiated by Geneva's grandmother, Virginia, and her older sister, Carina. There was a special song that Geneva's younger sister, Morgan, sang to the couple, as Geneva's brother, Kyle, played the guitar. They participated in a unity candle ceremony and also wrote their own vows.

The reception was kicked off with numerous yard games and fun entertainment scattered around the grounds, such as giant Jenga, Bocce Ball, Ladder Golf, I Spy, "Wed"-Libs, and more. Their reception was designed to be entertaining and elegant. Because Brandon and Geneva enjoy eating dessert before dinner, they decided to have a donut sharing prior to opening the dinner buffet. Their two flower girls, chiming gold bells, led the guests to a unique donut truck that would serve hot and fresh donuts throughout the evening. After dinner, everyone gathered on the dance floor, underneath the pavilion, for traditional folk dancing, toasts, and open dancing through the night. All the while, a steady rain was falling all around them. It was the perfect evening!
