The Resilience of a Woman by Sundari Ferris

Femininity and the entire being of a woman holds extraordinary power. We are life givers, we are lovers, and we are creators. When revisiting women of history, we see them for both their soft and hard edges; the beautiful and the hardened, in their strength, versatility, art form and words. Women cannot be placed into a single category no matter how persistent society may be in trying. She is multi-faceted in her natural form. She is both caring and confident, powerful and sensitive.  Being guided by a woman or merely listening to her words is deeply empowering. Women choose to live with resilience as we face ever-present obstacles in our way through life with our bodies, our image, our work and others’ judgement of us.

I believe our strength is perhaps an intuition of our being.

Our story and visualisation is just that.  She is empowered by simply existing. Against the weather, against the darkness, a woman is light and her own strength. She demonstrates the two sides of a coin : one of gentle vulnerability and immense courage against the harsh wind in the other.  She turns to no one to find her peace, only to herself. Even with heavy burdens, pain beyond understanding, and the mess that clouds her inner thoughts, she keeps on and finds warmth from within.

She is intimacy. She is energy. She is courageous. She might find herself lost but she continues to move forward. She has a purpose to be her and nothing but her.

I write personally here :

At times, I feel as if I’ve lost my sense of purpose. Over the last two years I have had the floor beneath my feet crumble and the strength--built up over years, smashed to pieces. I’ve had my thoughts questioned, my actions doubted, and my work suffer. But I am still here.

I am still fighting.

I am on a path to fulfilling my own driving force and learning about my perseverance. Even when life has knocked me down to the point of contemplating throwing in the towel in and hiding, I have willed myself to find the strength to face the world. I truly believe this to be within my feminine energy, the quality bestowed to me because of being a woman.

And so I repeat.

Women are resilient.

Women are powerful.

Women are vast in their wonder.
