Trending Travel: Iceland, and these Photographs Prove Why

Photographs by P. Thien Photography

This story was originally published on December 27th, 2017.

My partner Adam and I love to travel. We try to go a few times a year, which is much harder than it sounds and takes an incredible amount of planning and juggling schedules. This year we decided on Iceland.

It was the most magnificent place I've ever visited. We split our time between the South Coast and East Fjords. The South Coast afforded us green flowing waterfalls and black beaches, while East Fjords presented us with beautiful snow-capped mountains and lakes that reflected the sky.

It was hard to grasp seeing green moss growing on volcanic ashes in the morning and acres of land covered in snow by evening. Iceland will forever be in my thoughts and my dreams. We plan to visit again soon.

TRAVEL TIPS ||

The absolute best way to see Iceland’s Fjords is by self-guided tour in a car. The East Fjords—pictured in this blog—are dotted in the dramatic contrast of the water and jagged mountains. Here, you can choose to go horseback riding or simply take in the scenes. Either are magical. The East Fjords are more amicable year-round than the other Fjords, but still take caution and watch the weather before you start on your trek.
