An Elopement Reception at Home

All Photographs by Live View Studios

Our newlyweds, recently eloped, are a pair of French artists who wanted to host a celebratory dinner party for their friends. Since they are both artists, they love good design and color - and wanted to have a feast reminiscent of their home country fare, heartfelt and not pretentious.

Most nights they spent curled up together, barefoot, books in hand, or painting and creating beauty. This night, they turned their artistic attention a different way, toward the food they were creating: a rustic salad, assorted radishes with whipped butter, baked brie with smoked apricot, honeycomb, and bread

The varied assortment of art and color carried over into the muddled raspberry cocktails, and bright vegetables came to life alongside the brown butter poached fish, which was served with leeks, tomatoes, and haricot verts. A beef bourguignon with crusty bread chunks rounded out the dinner, concluding with raspberry tarts and cheesecakes for dessert.

At a table surrounded by their closest friends, they raised a toast - to marriage, art, and good food together. The night grew dim, but the sound of a single guitar flooded the evening as stars began to appear and twinkle overhead. They held each other's hands tightly and smiled at the dear faces around the table, content to be in the midst of what they treasured the most.
